You must know your own limitations and you ONLY YOU can make your own decisions about scuba diving, WE are not responsible for you. Please make the RIGHT decisions about YOUR scuba diving based on your own training and skill set. There is never an 'Official' dive master or instructor 'On Duty', you dive at YOUR OWN RISK.

Good morning Divers!!! When I was driving to the meeting place, I came across a thick fog patch that made
the freeway traffic slow down dramatically. I arrived at the mall and saw Rich and 2 new people. A few other
new people arrived along with a few regulars and irregulars. Rich had a commitment and couldn’t go down to the
beach when we took off for Crescent Bay. The fog was light when we went through the canyon, but at
the beach, the fog was a bit thick. So thick that we were going to have difficulties seeing the shore when we
swim out. The surf was fine when we watched it, but a few good sized waves would come in, so we had to be careful about
that. We suited up and it took me a little longer because I was diving with a new bcd and those tank straps
can be tricky. When I got down to the beach, just about everyone was already in the water swimming out. When
I got to the drop down point, everyone was waiting and the dive boat was there which helped with our navigation
because we couldn’t see the shore. We descended and I noticed a bit of green when we were dropping down.
Towards the bottom, the visibility opened up and I started to lead the group to the reef. When we reached the
reef we came across a chain of Salp. It was about 30-40 of them connected together. We ascended along
the reef and went up and over the peak and into the small canyon. You could not notice the newly growing kelp at the
edge of the canyon. It was never there before and it’s coming back. These strands were thin, but we’ll
see if they can continue to grow. We swam around the canyon going in and out and then we were going along
the shore side of the reef. I started to head back to shore when we came across Deadhenge. A man made rock formation
that points to Deadman’s Reef. At the base is the halloween prank of a coffin of a scuba diver. After seeing that
we head back in. Swimming along the inner reef, we came across 2 large sea hares. These were big and
fat. We ascended in about 7 feet of water and got out of the water easily. No big waves were around when we exited.
After putting our gear away, we headed to Husky Boy’s for lunch. The new people enjoyed the dive and we’ll
be seeing them again. We discussed what we saw on the dive and new friendships were made. Picture:
